AARP to the Future

Rob Reiner, Jeff Cole, and Vint Cerf shared visions of a digital future where mobile devices will dominate our communications, where physical media will give way to digital media, and where meeting face to face will require more conscious intention. AARP is (no fooling, I wouldn’t say this if it was bogus)… AARP is leading the way into mainstream adoption of tools that will make this happen. Above is my AARP membership card displayed on a free AARP application on my iPhone. One less card for the wallet, one more step toward a digital identity.

  1. Heard that presentation on streaming video. Look forward to hearing more from you about your experience. Sounds like you’re a Press pro now. Hope you enjoyed the entertainment!

    • Just realized I assumed that the”one” you want is the smartphone AARP app, and not the cool surfboarddecal or something… a little looking around showed me that Bottle Rocket, the developer that did the iPhone app doesn’t seem to be an android developer too. My guessis that they’ll work the kinks out on the ever tolerant Apple user base, and when they have a staple product they’ll reverse engineer it for other platforms.

  2. OK. After ten years of procrastination…I’m finally joining. Hoping to hear more detail about the convention.

    • More detail coming… I’m no good working on a short news cycle kind of deadline. I think I write better when i do a little research and feel confident about my ranting. Take Newt Gingrich… really. More coming there, but can’t just shoot from the hip. Must nuke from a distance.
