north of dearth

Sunday afternoon, Monroe, Wisconsin… a man a camera and a lack of inspiration.

dearth

I pulled the picture into this post after clicking the mantis and passing through the looking glass to Wim Wenders’ picture haikus…

Which reminds me of something that has been true for at least the last few days, and is likely to remain true forever:

Firstly [she said]: I realised why having open geodata is so fucking important and not at all banal.
Secondly: hard left-wing Socialist techies are amusing, but not to be fucked with.
Thirdly: accurate scientific and technological knowledge, especially that of the internet, is crucial in maintaining ones cultural capital.

And I wonder also just when did the single twittered utterance become a tweet? And I wonder if the usage is what finally killed old John Backus. [Thanks to Joey for noting his passing in a comment at Bob's Yer Uncle.] Imagine inventing Fortran and seeing the whole thing devolve to twitter and tweets… from punch cards to twitter, sort of like my career arc from paper boy to crossing guard. And is that all there is?
